In our last newsletter, “What Does It Take to Become a Professional Artist? – Part 4: You Need to Exhibit and Sell” we discussed why selling your work is a critical part of an artist’s journey. But selling art isn’t limited to traditional gallery walls. The possibilities are wider than ever, from direct sales of original pieces and licensing your art for products to partnering with businesses to bring your creations to life in entirely new forms.
Why Collaboration is a Game-Changer
Many artists are already turning their work into merchandise, prints, or digital products. Yet, just as many have the idea but aren’t sure how to take that first step. This is where collaboration becomes a game-changer. By working with a design studio, your art can reach new markets, be applied to unique products, and connect with audiences in fresh ways. I’ve always believed a painting or illustration shouldn’t be confined to a gallery wall—it can live, breathe, and interact with people in their everyday lives.
Our First Collaboration Project
This month, we’re launching our very first collaboration project here at SayLizard Design Studio. I’m partnering with a talented calligraphy artist to transform her original work into a series of design products that we will create and sell together. In this issue, I’ll introduce the project’s vision and purpose. In the next issue, you’ll meet the artist herself and dive deep into her creative world.
This project is about more than just making merchandise. It’s about giving artists the tools, processes, and marketing strategies to successfully bring their work into new forms. While some artists are skilled in self-promotion and design software, many find the process overwhelming. Through this collaboration, we’re combining creative talent with professional design and marketing expertise to open new doors for your work.
We would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on this project. Feel free to share them with us via email (saylizard.studio@gmail.com) or in the comments on our newsletter—your input could spark inspiration for our next collaboration.
Moving forward, we’ll also be sharing design concepts and product options right here in this newsletter. Our subscribers will have the chance to vote and help us choose the final design. We can’t wait to create something with you.
We look forward to seeing the creative possibilities your work can bring to life.
